Our goal is to build community among Black alumni and students and to support one another. All people contributing to this purpose are welcome to participate.
Amber Wiley, Director of the Center for the Preservation of Civil Rights Sites at the Weizman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, will be our guest speaker.
To make our monthly meetings as valuable as possible, we will follow an agenda that addresses some but not necessarily all the following topics: 1. New member introductions 2. Student experience discussion 3. Asks and offers* 4. Alumni experience 5. Africa program/curriculum 6. Raising money for Lauder Annual Fund – participation, voice 7. Programming/webinars - we are thinking about planning an in person gathering in Washington, DC in February 2024 during Black History Month. *We have done this informally in our first couple of meetings but would like to create a structured opportunity for members to share a more formal pitch (not unlike Shark Tank or the Pitch-It competition at LGAW). Members would submit their slides in advance and have a set amount of time to share their idea, and this could potentially lead to funding opportunities.
